Mariners Hospital Medical Staff Elects New Leaders

08-01-2008

The Medical Staff of Mariners Hospital has selected a new slate of leaders for the next two years.  Neurologist Elisa Brown-Soltero, M.D., will serve as president; and pediatrician Stanley Zuba, M.D., will fill the seat of vice president.

Other officers include internist Dennis Rainwater, M.D., as past president and emergency physician Kenneth Ahonen, M.D., member-at-large.  Hospitalist Eugene Manuel, D.O., was elected section of medicine chief; and plastic surgeon F. True Lansden, M.D., was chosen section of surgery chief.

The new officers serve as the Medical Executive Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the more than 70 physicians on staff at Mariners Hospital, as well as the overall quality of care provided to patients and patient safety.

Mariners Hospital is part of Baptist Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in South Florida.  Baptist Health also includes Baptist Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Baptist Outpatient Services.
