For international Patients located outside the United States we can make arrangements for jet or helicopter medical transport.

For emergency medical services involving life and death situations, get to a telephone immediately and call “911.” You will need to communicate your location to the Emergency Operator. Professional medical personnel such as emergency medical technicians will be sent to help you. Depending on the nature of the emergency, you will be transported to the closest hospital in order to save your life or the life of your loved one. The closest hospital may or may not be part of the Baptist Health family of hospitals.

When a medical emergency occurs, it can be very scary, especially if you are visiting from another country and are not fluent in the English language. To help you make the best decisions regarding your medical emergency,

Baptist Health South Florida offer a 24 Hour Customer Service for our patients as well as anyone considering coming to our hospital for emergency medical services. Another goal we have at Baptist Health South Florida is to offer the best international hospital service in the U.S. Therefore one of the international hospital service features we offer is an employee language bank to help with translations. The staff we employ can help with translations in over 30 languages.

We have a 24-hour, on-call service that provides a Patient Representative to answer your emergency needs. This is especially helpful for medical emergencies occurring after normal business hours and on weekends.

The Best Course of Action
The Patient Representative will help you to determine the best course of action, which can include any one of the following:

Baptist Health doctor. Your doctor’s advice may be deemed to be the best course of action. Our Patient Representative can assist in contacting your Baptist Health doctor.
Baptist Medical Plaza Urgent Care Centers. Another option the Patient Representative may do is to direct you to one of our quality urgent care centers.  At our Baptist Medical Plaza urgent care centers, you will find help for situations that can include the following types of symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Earache, sore throat
  • Flu-like symptoms, colds, upper respiratory infections
  • Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea
  • Simple or suspected bone fractures, strains and sprains
  • Cuts that may need stitches, other simple wounds
  • Rashes and minor allergic reactions
  • Non-severe asthma attacks
  • Painful or burning urination

Emergency room of the nearest Baptist Health hospital. Depending upon the nature of the medical emergency, the Patient Representative may direct you to come immediately to the nearest Baptist Hospital, or even dial “911.” Some examples of medical emergencies requiring Baptist Hospital’s medical services include:

  • Severe pain
  • Severe bleeding
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Compound bone fractures that break through the skin
  • Chest pain or other signs of a heart attack
  • Stroke symptoms
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizures.
