Baptist Children's Hospital's George Batchelor/Gloria Vasta Lewis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides both level II and III units, and can care for very sick newborns and those who weigh less than 1,000 grams (2.19 pounds). South Miami Hospital provides a level II neonatal intensive care unit.
Baptist Health's 24-hour neonatal transport service provides specially trained staff members to transport infants to the NICUs at either Baptist or South Miami from another medical facility.
