Baptist Children's Hospital is a leader in advanced pediatric care. The George Batchelor/Gloria Vasta Lewis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) - which provides both level II and III units - can care for very sick newborns who need immediate surgery and those who weigh less than 1,000 grams (2.19 pounds).
In addition, Baptist Health's 24-hour neonatal transport service provides specially trained staff members to transport infants to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at South Miami Hospital (level II) or Baptist Hospital's NICU from another medical facility.
