Mammography plays a major role in detecting breast cancer when it’s still small enough to be easily treated. That’s why the American Cancer Society recommends that women over age 40 get a mammogram once a year.
Digital mammography, which uses the most advanced technology, is available at diagnostic centers across Baptist Health. Studies have shown that digital mammography is significantly better than conventional mammography at detecting breast cancer in women under 50, premenopausal and perimenopausal women, and women with dense breasts.
The technology is available at Baptist Outpatient Center, Baptist Mammography Center at Macy’s, The Falls, Baptist Medical Plazas at Coral Gables, Doral, Miami Lakes, West Kendall and Westchester, and Mariners Hospital.
Other tests
If a mammogram looks suspicious, our doctors perform minimally invasive core biopsies, which require just a tiny incision. We also perform ultrasound studies for breast cancer.
