Our physicians offer cancer patients participation in clinical research trials through a variety of national research organizations. Each trial is designed to answer specific scientific questions and to find new and better ways to help people with cancer. Eligibility criteria determine if a patient is appropriate for a particular clinical trial.
Baptist Health South Florida physicians participate in clinical trials offered through pharmaceutical companies as well as these national research organizations:
- National Cancer Institute (NCI) and NCI Clinical Trials Support Unit (CTSU). Funded by the United States government, NCI is the leader in cancer research in our country. The CTSU allows a national network of physicians to participate in NCI-sponsored cancer treatment trials.
- Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). These trials study new approaches in the use of radiation therapy.
- Children’s Oncology Group (COG) researches treatment for childhood cancers.
- U.S. Oncology Clinical Trials Program coordinates trials offered by our medical oncologists.
- Total Cancer Care™: Baptist Health has partnered with Tampa-based H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in this research study that may lead to individualized treatments for specific types of cancer by studying each tumor’s unique genetic profile.
