The inaugural event of the Young Philanthropists of Baptist Health took place March 20, on the Yacht Black Hawk, donated by Bruce Wirtz MacArthur, chairman of the First National Bank of South Miami. The event was attended by young professionals, ages 21 to 45, and included physicians, attorneys and entrepreneurs who want to support and advance the work of Baptist Health in meeting the healthcare needs of South Florida.
Also in attendance were Brian E. Keeley, CEO and president of Baptist Health; Wayne Brackin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Baptist Health; and Laurie Sergeant, senior child life specialist at Baptist Children’s Hospital.
Young Philanthropists will support different projects each year. The 2009 campaign will target the Baptist Children’s Hospital Child Life Specialist Program, a program that promotes the psychosocial well-being of hospitalized pediatric patients and their families.
