Doctors Hospital has been serving the people of Coral Gables since 1949.  It is a premier not-for-profit hospital with a tradition of excellence and an outstanding reputation for orthopedics, general surgery, neurosurgery – including a state-of-the-art Gamma Knife – gynecology, gynecologic oncology and emergency and general medicine.  Its Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine serves professional and amateur athletes from around the world.

A Gift of Caring

Through the philanthropic support of its donors, Doctor's Hospital Foundation raises funds to help maintain that margin of excellence in quality care.  Whether they are supporting new technology or creating scholarships for nurses, donors are vital partners in Doctors Hospital's quest to provide the Coral Gables community with outstanding healthcare for its residents and visitors.

Gifts made to Doctors Hospital Foundation can be designated to a specific area of interest or given to our general fund to help the hospital where the need is greatest. 

Here are a few suggestions of how your gift might be used:

Doctors Hospital Center of Excellence in Nursing (CEN)
CEN funds are accessed by our nursing staff for innovative ideas, equipment, education or staff development.  These funds are also utilized to send students through nursing school and to improve patient care with nurse-approved equipment and programs.  Contributions will help us ensure continued high level of excellence in nursing care.  

Doctors Hospital Center for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine
A renowned in-house medical research program at Doctors Hospital is dedicated to medical research in orthopedics and sports medicine. The research program will be a part of the Doctors Hospital Center of Excellence in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The principal goal of the medical research program will be to improve and expand high quality orthopedic and sports medicine health care services to the community.

Doctors Hospital Gamma Knife
The Miami neuroscience team at Doctors Hospital developed the first Gamma Knife program in the state of Florida. Since 1993, it has been a leader in neurological patient care serving thousands of patients from the United States and abroad.

Doctors Hospital is uniquely qualified to treat brain tumors and other neurological conditions. The Gamma Knife is not actually a knife. It is a device that uses gamma rays to destroy brain tumors (both cancerous and non-cancerous) and treats conditions including malformed blood vessels, pain and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. This is done without an incision or physical entry into the brain. Because there is no cutting involved, there is no hospital stay and the entire procedure is done in one day.

Doctors Hospital Emergency Department Expansion Project
Doctors Hospital Emergency Department, designed for 12,000 patient visits a year, treated over 20,000 patients last year.  Plans for an enhanced Emergency Center are under way and will bring a larger, state-of-the-art facility with the best medical care, technology and equipment, to those who mean the most to you – your family and friends.  The Emergency Center enhancement project has a variety of naming opportunities available to individuals and families that will establish a permanent legacy in Coral Gables for generations.
