Celebration of Generosity 

 Donor Generosity – the Heart of Baptist Health Foundation   

Baptist Health Foundation hosted its annual donor recognition dinner on January 15 at the Ritz-Carlton, Coconut Grove.  “The generosity of donors is the heart of Baptist Health Foundation,” said Bob Baal, CEO of the Foundation.  “Their dedication and support helps ensure that medical excellence will continue to be provided to the communities we serve.”  More than 320 guests, who helped the Foundation raise $10 million in 2008, attended the event.

The Philanthropist of the Year Award was presented to Bob and Barbara Gintel.  The Gintels donated $1 million as the lead gift to establish an endowment fund to pay annual operating costs for Mariners Hospital’s Electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU). 
 
Volunteer of the Year awards were presented to Jack Ziffer, M.D., for Baptist Hospital,  Maria Camila Leiva for Baptist Children’s Hospital, Oscar Hidalgo for Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Bob Burstein for South Miami Hospital, Rene Taylor for Homestead Hospital, Ray Castellanos for Doctors Hospital, Patricia Mull for Mariners Hospital and Lee Stapleton for Baptist Outpatient Services. 

Those volunteers were recognized for their generosity and tireless efforts on behalf of Baptist Health South Florida Foundation.

• Baptist Health Breast Center.
• Emergency Center expansion at Baptist Hospital.
• Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute’s programs for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of stroke, and heart and vascular disease.
• Child Development Center at South Miami Hospital.
• South Miami Heart Center’s prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
• CT Scanner for Homestead Hospital.
• Mariners Hospital eICU LifeGuard system.
• Baptist Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund to support needy families of children who are undergoing treatment for cancer.
• Doctors Hospital Gynecologic Oncology and Sports Medicine programs, and the general and neurosurgery units, including a new state-of-the-art Gamma Knife.
