Faith and Health Support Groups Program
Faith-Based Health Support Group Training

Congregations are becoming agents of healing and wholeness in wounded and fragmented communities through the formation of peer support ministries. Health support groups offer encouragement, education and support to those working through challenging or chronic health issues.

This model is composed of members who are confronted with similar health or life challenges and who are willing to openly deal with their pain and struggle with their complexities in order to find some sense of peace to better cope with their health challenges.

When congregations organize a support group, they will be part of the Faith-Based Health Support Groups Guide and eligible to receive referrals.

Important information about the training:
• This 5-hour training is targeted to laypeople who desire to organize or enhance their faith-based health support groups in their own place of worship.
• Participating speakers include: chaplains, social workers, nurses, and representatives from community health organizations.
• The training is absolutely free (materials and food are included.)
• CEU’s for nurses and social workers will be offered. The training is offered only in English

Health Education and Promotion Program
Congregational Health Fairs
Congregational Health is dedicated to health promotion and the integration of health and spirituality in every local congregation when it embraces a holistic perspective and spiritual dimension of health. It is a model which teaches physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being through "healthy living" rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Congregations can improve the health of their community through a health fair, a fun and educational time for congregation and communities alike.

When Congregational Health partnering congregations plan a health fair, Congregational Health assists them by offering free screenings and in this way are able to make a difference in the health of those who may have no other means to be screened.
