South Miami Hospital is deeply committed to the holistic care of our patients and families and believes that spirituality is a vital component of total wellness. Our pastoral care staff is available to patients, family members and staff, providing spiritual and emotional assistance when facing difficult situations and in celebrating joyous events.
The pastoral care staff is currently composed of Fr. Joseph Fishwick, Rabbi David Albert and Rev. James Moon. They represent the Roman Catholic, Jewish and Protestant traditions, respectively, though all are trained to work with persons of any faith background. We also have many trained volunteers assisting us.
The Armando Alejandre Jr. Center for Pastoral Care is located at the west end of the main entrance lobby, next to the parking garage off 73rd Street. The Dr. F. Foster Dye Memorial Chapel provides a soothing, inviting and peaceful place where patients, visitors and employees can meditate and find spiritual strength. The pastoral care offices are next-door to the chapel, where our staff is available to assist you. Across from the chapel and pastoral care is the Vaughn-Jordan Foundation Meditation Garden, dedicated to nursing, which provides an additional oasis for prayer and renewal of spirit.
