A hospital stay is often a difficult time for patients and families. Spiritual and emotional support during recovery can be just as important as the physical healing itself. Mariners Hospital's chaplains are specially trained to help patients in their time of need, regardless of a patient's religious beliefs. They can offer support before surgery, in times of anxiety or crisis, and in healing -- for patients and their family members.
"To experience our sense of oneness with God and wholeness with our community, we need opportunities to come together," Rev. James Gustafson said. "Pastoral care is one way we can experience this and share in a journey toward wholeness."
Chaplains are available to meet with patients and families as needed. They are also supported by members of the Upper Keys Ministerial Association to meet the needs of people from a variety of faiths.
