Cancer Services at Baptist Children's Hospital

The chances of curing some forms of childhood cancer are as high as 75 percent.  But for the children and families who must endure it, it consumes 100 percent of their lives.  Families coping with a child’s cancer diagnosis don’t have to face it alone.  Baptist Children’s Hospital is designed to support you every step of the way, with highly skilled healthcare professionals working with you to fight the disease.

Baptist Children’s Hospital provides the highest quality cancer care and is part of the Baptist-South Miami Regional Cancer Program.  Besides Baptist Children’s’ Hospital, the Regional Cancer Program includes Baptist and South Miami Hospitals.  It is accredited by the prestigious Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons and has been consistently ranked among the top cancer care facilities in the community.

Thanks to clinical research, some types of childhood cancer that were once considered terminal are now curable. The Baptist-South Miami Regional Cancer Program participates in clinical research trials sponsored by the Children’s Oncology Group, a national research study group. That means that we can offer our patients enrollment in a variety of research protocols that provide leading-edge treatment options.

Children with cancer at Baptist Children’s Hospital benefit from the pediatric oncology support team and child life specialist.  They provide much-needed emotional support, empathy and guidance for the entire family.  And, a school reintegration program is in place to help children with post-treatment cognitive impairment reach their full potential when returning to school.

Baptist Children's Hospital provides treatment for patients from birth to 18 years of age with all types of childhood cancers. Dr. Doured Daghistani is the Principal Investigator for the Pediatric Oncology Program.
