The Institute offers three simple, noninvasive screenings that use ultrasound technology to detect potentially life-threatening conditions.
The screenings help detect abdominal aortic aneuryms (abnormal enlargement of the main artery leading from the heart), carotid artery disease (narrowing of the artery that supplies blood to the brain) and peripheral artery disease (blockages in arteries in the legs), all serious conditions which often have no symptoms. If left untreated, they can lead to rupture of vital arteries, stroke, loss of limbs or death.
Patients who smoke; have been diagnosed with or have a family history of heart disease or diabetes; have high blood pressure; are over 50 years of age; or who have chronic leg pain or leg fatigue are particularly at risk for these conditions.
The trio of screenings cost $99. To make an appointment call 786-596-2700.
