A Statement from Baptist Hospital:

A former Baptist Hospital employee has been arrested and charged with credit card theft and the unauthorized use of financial information. Since the arrest late last week, we have been working diligently to try to determine the extent of the problem, and we are cooperating fully with the authorities. We do not yet know the extent of the problem, but it appears to involve a single employee who, we believe, accessed the financial records of several thousand patients at Baptist Hospital. We expect to know more in the next few days. We deeply regret this has happened -- it has never happened in the nearly 50-year history of this faith-based organization, and it is not indicative of the extremely high ethical standards of our employees. We will do our best to assist anyone whose information may have been compromised. Once we identify the records of persons who may be affected, we will contact them individually.
