Since 1960, Baptist Hospital of Miami has been one of the most respected medical centers in  South Florida. Located just 20 minutes from Miami International Airport, the hospital's full range of medical and technological services is the natural choice for a growing number of people throughout the world. At the time, Baptist was the first hospital in the state to receive the distinguished designation. In 2002, and again in 2006, Baptist Hospital was re-awarded Magnet status for excellence in nursing. The Magnet status remains in effect through 2010.

More Than 3,000 Attend Women's Health Day

Author Mary LoVerde talks with Teri Busse-Arvesu, Mary Jo Robles and Patricia Freyre at the 17th annual Women's Health Day held at Baptist Hospital recently. Ms. LoVerde presented "Strategies for a Balanced Life," offering advice to women on finding balance, health and well-being in their lives. The event brought more than 3,000 women to the Baptist campus to take advantage of a wide range of free health screenings, mini-lectures, fitness demonstrations, exhibits and more.

Baptist Hospital Retains National Honor for Nursing Excellence
Baptist Hospital has been re-awarded Magnet status for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This is the third time the ANCC has named Baptist Hospital a member of the prestigious Magnet Recognition Program.

A new Emergency Center under construction at Baptist Hospital is part of the largest expansion project in the hospital’s history. Scheduled to open by the end of this year, the Emergency Center — one of the largest in Florida — along with 96 private inpatient rooms will be housed in the four-story Victor E. Clarke Emergency Pavilion. Located on the first floor will be 100 private treatment rooms, including six state-ofthe-art trauma rooms. Of these, 20 treatment rooms and two trauma rooms will be located in a separate Children’s Emergency Center, complete with its own reception area.
