Baptist Health’s eICU LifeGuard (see video) is the second around-the-clock electronic critical care monitoring system in Florida. Studies have shown that such high-tech monitoring reduces cardiac arrests, medical complications and the length of stay in critical care, and improves patient satisfaction. “This is a quantum leap forward in critical care,” said Loren Nelson, M.D., eICU medical director and a critical care specialist for 25 years.

| New Homestead Hospital Opens |
History was made on Sunday, May 6, when patients moved into the new Homestead Hospital located on Campbell Drive (SW 312 Street) and SW 147 Avenue. The event marked the closing of the original Homestead Hospital that opened in 1940 and the first time a new acute-care hospital has opened in Miami-Dade County in three decades. |
