Disaster Aid Services to Hospital
Disaster Aid Services to Hospitals (D.A.S.H.) was initiated as a result of problems encountered by hospitals in South Dade following Hurricane Andrew. In the months following the storm, several hospitals realized that the hurricane and disaster plans currently in existence were not adequate, and hospitals needed to network in order to both plan and provide aid to a stricken hospital.
D.A.S.H. was formed by hospitals with a common belief that more thorough preparedness for a disaster, including a hurricane, act of terrorism or bioterrorism, as well as a relief effort in a coordinated manner, would aid in providing the necessary health care to the community struck by a disaster.
