Paid Time Off (PTO)
Regular part-time and full-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO). This time accrues based on the number of hours you work (up to 80 hours a pay period). You may use this paid time off for holidays you wish to celebrate, vacations, sick time, to take a sick child to the doctor, to do volunteer work or whatever you choose. You must schedule your paid time off with your supervisor and adhere to departmental policies for holidays, vacations, sick days and the other uses of time off.
Family Medical Leave of Absence
Under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), you may take an unpaid leave of absence if you have worked for Baptist Health for at least one year for at least 1,250 hours over the previous 12 months. FMLA-provided leave may be for up to 12 weeks within a 52-week period, and is job-protected. FMLA may be taken:
· To care for your child after birth, adoption or placement in foster care.
· To care for a spouse, son, daughter, grandparent (if you work in Miami-Dade County), or parent who has a serious health condition.
· For a serious health condition that makes you unable to perform your job.
Medical Leave of Absence/Non-FMLA
Eligible employees may take paid and unpaid authorized absence from work for personal health problems that do not qualify for Family and Medical Leave of Absence.
Jury Duty
Eligible employees are paid for normally scheduled days when performing jury duty.
Personal Leave of Absence
A Personal Leave of Absence is a privilege given you when an unpaid authorized absence from work is required. You may use this leave for educational purposes or volunteer work on behalf of the community, for political or charitable organizations, or for an extended vacation. Your job is not guaranteed when you return from a personal leave of absence.
Domestic Leave of Absence
Baptist Health provides leave to employees who need it to deal with domestic or repeated violence.
Bereavement Leave
Bereavement leave of up to three paid days is provided to eligible employees upon the death of a member of their immediate family, including domestic partners, for funeral, memorial or personal bereavement observance.
Military Leave of Absence
If you’re inducted into the military service or called to active duty, you will continue to be paid your base pay rate for normally scheduled hours, offset by any military pay and subsistence you receive, for your first 90 days of active duty. If you’re called to annual active military training, you will be paid at your normal rate of pay, offset by military pay and subsistence, for up to two weeks per year. All employees are eligible for a Military Leave of Absence.
Summer Release Work Agreement
If you work in a designated “summer release” position, you may be eligible to take four to 12 weeks off during the summer to spend time with your children or take care of personal business.
Leave Sharing
You may donate your earned Paid Time Off (PTO) to other employees who have exhausted theirs and who are suffering hardship due to certain emergencies.
Bridgement of Service
Former employees may return within five years and have their previous service bridged so that they don’t lose benefits like service awards and PTO.
