Flexible Work Arrangements
With the approval of your department leader, you may be able to arrange your hours so that they are flexible enough to meet your personal needs. Baptist Health soon will make available an online flexible work arrangements tracking system, through which employees can request flextime such as a reduced work schedule, a job-sharing situation or telecommuting.
Paid Parental Benefit
Need to be away from work because you’re having, adopting or fostering a baby or child? Employees who are eligible for benefits and who work a full-time or modified full-time schedule will receive the equivalent of one week’s base pay (not to exceed 40 hours). Regular part-time employees will be paid on an average of their salary over 12 weeks (not to exceed 40 hours per week). This benefit is for mothers and fathers. You must be in good standing and have worked at Baptist Health for at least one year.
Onsite Child Care
Our Early Learning Centers on the campuses of Baptist, South Miami and Homestead Hospitals provide care for infants and preschool children. Teachers plan and manage developmental activities appropriate to each age group, such as field trips, dance classes and computer classes. The cost of child care is paid for, in part, by Baptist Health, so that the employees' share of the expense is less than what other child care centers in the community charge.
Child Care Resources
Information and referrals to various community-based child care resources are available to all employees at no charge. Simply visit or call any Baptist Health Early Learning Center.
Backup Care Options
If a baby-sitter or other caregiver cancels and you need to be at work, Baptist Health’s backup care provider offers temporary care for your infants or elders when your regular caregiver is unavailable. The program is available 24 hours a day and offers care in your home or in your loved one’s home, anywhere in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico. Care for healthy children also can be provided in a designated child care center. You will be billed for a low employee co-pay of $2 per hour per child for center-based care, or $4 per hour for up to three dependents for in-home care, after you use the services.
All Baptist Health employees are eligible for the service. Enrollment is free. Employees may register online at www.workoptionsgroup.com or by calling 800-557-0847.
Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program is available to all employees for help in resolving personal problems. The EAP provides counseling and also refers employees to other appropriate services. Counseling and referral to community services are available for a wide range of needs, including balancing the stresses of work and private life, bereavement, finances, marital and family problems, and legal questions. Help also is available for alcohol and drug dependency as well as issues related to domestic violence. Programs are offered at each hospital campus on topics such as stress management and relationship building.
Elder Care
Elder care resources and referral are available through Social Work Services to help you locate the services you need. Temporary care for elders also is provided through the Backup Care Options service mentioned above.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care Services are available at each hospital campus, including religious services. You and your immediate family are welcome to exchange marriage vows in a hospital chapel. An honorarium for the chaplain is customary.
Meals-to-Go
If you don’t have time to cook, you can pick up affordable and healthy meals-to-go from your Baptist Health cafeteria.
Onsite Services
Independent dry cleaning services are located at the West entrance of Baptist Hospital near the employee parking garage. Baptist Hospital also has quality, affordable shoe repair services and hairstyling and manicure services available on campus. Services are available to all employees.
Movies
Baptist Health mails two free movie tickets (or a free Blockbuster movie rental card) to each employee’s home as an annual birthday gift.
